Colleen Durkan, MS, CF-SLP

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Colleen has a natural gift for engaging children through play that’s tailored to their unique interests. Her approach goes beyond achieving therapeutic goals; she is committed to making each child feel valued, understood, and empowered. With a focus on building positive and meaningful relationships, she delights in guiding each child's journey toward communication success.

A strong advocate for neurodiversity-affirming therapy, Colleen embraces the individuality and strengths of every child. She often reminds parents of the importance of meeting their child where they are and enjoys teaching them fun, low-pressure ways to integrate language development into daily routines. Her goal is to make a real difference in both the lives of children and their families.

While earning her Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Colleen gained hands-on experience as a Graduate Student Clinician in varied settings, including NorthShore Glenbrook Hospital, Chicago Speech Therapy, Westbrook School for Young Learners, and Elmhurst University’s Speech Language Hearing Clinic. This breadth of experience enables her to support a wide range of speech and language needs. Her specific areas of expertise include Gestalt Language Processing, early language development, articulation disorders, and feeding challenges.
