Give your child a break from screens! With cooler weather upon us, now is the time to get started with socially distanced, in-person speech therapy.

Synapse Pediatric Therapy is excited to announce that we are offering in-person services again!

We are operating on a hybrid model where we offer both in-person and telehealth, depending on your situation and comfort level.  Because we prioritize the health and safety of the families we serve as well as our therapists, we have implemented some new policies and procedures. Read more about those here.

Below are some common questions we’ve been receiving in regard to resuming in-person sessions.

What will happen in case of inclement weather?

In the case of inclement weather, you can choose to have a 30-minute indoor session or a telehealth session.

Do kids have to wear masks?

We ask that children over the age of 2, if developmentally able, wear a mask.

How do you model sounds if you are wearing a mask?

Modeling speech sounds is difficult through a mask, but luckily with the use of technology, face shields and clear masks, we are able to continue to offer visual aids for children working on specific sounds.  Certain apps offer visual models of the tongue, lips, and cheeks to aids in correct placement of articulators.

Telehealth continues to be an option to supplement in-person services, especially if the child needs a clear view of the adult’s face without a mask.

What are the parents' role in therapy?

Parents continue to be key players in their child’s therapy.  We rely as much as ever on parent cooperation and participation to ensure your child is getting the best services. During the implementation of these new precautions, we rely on parents to be open communicators with us regarding any travel or possible COVID symptoms.

Our goal is to continue offering the highest quality of care for your child to help them achieve their speech and language goals. If you have any questions about choosing a service delivery model for your family or would like to learn more, you can schedule time for us to contact you here.
