Katy Poorman, M.A., CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

Katy is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, in addition to a Speech Language Pathologist. She has extensive work doing cognitive and swallowing therapy related to concussions, traumatic brain injuries, and non-traumatic brain injuries (stroke, cancer, hypoxia, meningitis, encephalopathy, cerebral palsy). She is skilled in working with children with hearing and visual impairments as well as a variety of childhood language disorders focused on speech and language interventions in school settings. 

In her free time, Katy is fond of music, exploring the city, cooking and spending time with friends.

Background/Education

  • Master’s in Speech Language Pathology (emphasis in Neurogenic Communication Disorders), University of Northern Iowa
  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Northern Iowa
  • Bachelor’s in Music Therapy (emphasis in voice), University of Kansas
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Illinois
  • Member of Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
